Quadrigeminal Cistern

**Definition:** A subarachnoid cistern located between the splenium of the corpus collosum and the superior surface of the cerebellum, lying posterior to the brain stem and third ventricle. The great cerebral vein traverses it and the pineal gland protrudes into it.
