Embryonic Disc

**Semantic type:** Embryonic Structure

**Definition:** A disc composed of either two or three cell layers (bilaminar or trilaminar) depending on the stage of embryonic development, the second or third week respectively. This disc gives rise to germ layers that will begin to differentiate the embryo. A layer of prismatic cells that forms the floor of the amniotic cavity, and from which the embryo develops.
