Pharyngeal Groove
**Semantic type:** Embryonic Structure
**Definition:** One of a series of paired ectodermal clefts, located on either side of the embryonic pharyngeal foregut, that separate the pharyngeal arches. The first pharyngeal groove forms the external auditory meatus, while all other pharyngeal clefts are obliterated during development.
