Acute Interstitial Pneumonia

**Definition:** A rare, rapidly progressing interstitial lung disorder characterized by diffuse and bilateral alveolar damage. Patients present with sudden onset of dyspnea and rapid development of respiratory failure. Management is supportive and hospitalization and mechanical ventilation are usually required.
