C3H/HeJ Mouse

**Definition:** Derived from the C3H progenitor strain that was passed to Heston in 1941 and to Jackson Lab in 1947. The C3H/HeJ mouse has an agouti coat color (genotype +, rd) and 90% of non-fostered offspring developed mammary tumors by 11 months or age. Fostered offspring have a high incidence of hepatomas.
