Adenomatous Polyp

**Definition:** A polypoid neoplasm that arises from the glandular epithelium of the gastrointestinal tract. There is a proliferation of glandular cells that may display dysplastic cytologic features. Representative examples include the adenomatous polyps of the colon and rectum.
