Immature Peripheral Gamma/Delta Cell of Cytotoxic Type

**Definition:** A cell derived from stem cells in the bone marrow. It is a maturing T lymphocyte that expresses a gamma-delta antigen specific surface receptor (TCR). These cells exert major histocompatibility-unrestricted natural cytotoxicity against several types of solid tumors and some leukemias and lymphomas. They are also involved in the immune response to certain infections and are able to mediate antibody-dependent cytotoxicity and are not alloreactive.
