Methyleugenol

**Definition:** A yellowish, oily, naturally occurring liquid with a clove-like aroma and is present in many essential oils. Methyleugenol is used as a flavoring agent, as a fragrance and as an anesthetic in rodents. Methyleugenol is mutagenic in animals and is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen based on evidence of carcinogenicity in animals. (NCI05)
