Acquired Nevus Araneus
**Semantic type:** Acquired Abnormality
**Definition:** A non-congenital, benign vascular lesion with a central punctum (arteriole) that is surrounded by thin-walled capillaries in a radial pattern. It occurs as the result of the dilatation of pre-existing vessels and is most often an incidental finding. The lesion may also be found in association with hypermetabolic states or chronic disease.
