Lung Small Cell Carcinoma
**Semantic type:** Neoplastic Process
**Definition:** A highly aggressive carcinoma with neuroendocrine differentiation that arises from the lung. It is characterized by the presence of malignant small cells and more than 10 mitoses per 2 mm2. Necrosis is frequently seen. Metastatic disease is usually present at the time of diagnosis.
