**Definition:** Human PTPRJ wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 11p11.2 and is approximately 188 kb in length. This allele, which encodes receptor-type tyrosine-protein phosphatase eta protein, is involved in the dephosphorylation of protein-tyrosine phosphates. Defects in the PTPRJ gene are associated with several types of cancer such as breast, colon and lung cancers.
