FASN wt Allele

**Definition:** Human FASN wild-type allele is located within 17q25 and is approximately 20 kb in length. This allele, which encodes fatty acid synthase protein, is involved in the biosynthesis of long-chain fatty acids. The FASN gene is overexpressed in many epithelial cancers and is associated with poor prognosis.
