**Definition:** Human CALM1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 14q32.11 and is approximately 12 kb in length. This allele, which encodes calmodulin protein, is involved in cellular growth, cell cycle regulation, signal transduction and the synthesis and release of neurotransmitters. Mutations in the gene are associated with long QT syndrome 14 and catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia 4.
