**Definition:** Human NCOA4 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 10q11.2 and is approximately 25 kb in length. This allele, which encodes nuclear receptor coactivator 4 protein, is involved in hormone-regulated transcriptional activation. Recombination of the wild-type allele with the RET proto-oncogene wild-type allele is found in papillary thyroid carcinomas.
