**Definition:** Human STC2 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 5q35.2 and is approximately 15 kb in length. This allele, which encodes stanniocalcin 2 protein, is involved in the modulation of calcium levels. The gene is expressed aberrantly in some breast cancers.
