Submandibular Ganglion

**Definition:** A peripheral parasympathetic ganglion that is located anterior to the submandibular gland on the superior portion of the hypoglossus. Its postganglionic fibers supply the sublingual and submandibular glands, and its preganglionic fibers originate from the salivary nucleus.
