Nafcillin

**Definition:** A semi-synthetic naphthalene and beta-lactam antibiotic with antibacterial activity. Nafcillin inhibits bacterial wall synthesis by a mechanism of action similar to penicillin. Penicillinase-resistant Nafcillin is used to treat infections caused by penicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococci. (NCI04)
