Menotropin

**Definition:** A mixture of gonadotropins purified from the urine of postmenopausal women, which contains high levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), with potential use as a treatment for infertility. Menotropins may also contain or be administered sequentially or simultaneously with human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Gonadotropins stimulate discrete cellular components of the gonads and improve ovulation, follicular growth and maturation, or spermatogenesis.
