N-(4-Methoxyphenyl)retinamide

**Definition:** A phenylretinamide and synthetic retinoid analogue. N-(4-methoxyphenyl)retinamide (4-MPR) may activate retinoic acid receptors, thereby altering the expression of certain genes leading to cell differentiation and decreased cell proliferation in susceptible cells. 4-MPR, a major metabolite of fenretinide, may also induce apoptosis through an RAR-independent mechanism that is not yet fully elucidated.
