**Definition:** Human CHD5 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 1p36.3 and is approximately 78 kb in length. This allele, which encodes chromodomain-helicase-DNA-binding protein 5, is involved in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation. Depletion of the wild-type allele contributes to the pathogenesis of several cancers; including: neural cancers, melanoma, hematopoietic cancers and several epithelial cancers.
