**Definition:** Human H4C9 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 6p21.33 and is approximately 2 kb in length. This allele, which encodes histone H4 protein, is involved in the modulation of the structure of chromatin. In B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma this gene can be involved in a translocation t(3;6)(q27;p21) that fuses it to the enhancer region of the BCL6 gene.
