LCN2 wt Allele

**Definition:** Human LCN2 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 9q34 and is approximately 5 kb in length. This allele, which encodes neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin protein, may be involved in both the modulation of inflammation and the regulation of the transport of hydrophobic substances (ie. retinol, lipopolysaccharide). The expression of this gene may be elevated in many cancers and inflammatory diseases.
