**Definition:** Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SUV39H2 (410 aa, ~47 kDa) is encoded by the human SUV39H2 gene. This soluble, nuclear protein plays a role in establishment of constitutive heterochromatin at pericentric and telomeric regions. Trimethylation of H3K9 is also required to direct DNA methylation at pericentric repeats.
