**Definition:** An iodine (I) 123 labeled aralkylguanidine norepinephrine analogue used as a diagnostic imaging tracer. Iobenguane, structurally related to norepinephrine, functioning as a false substrate of norepinephrine, and is taken up and localized in the granules of pre-synaptic adrenergic neurons. When labeled with I-123, this agent is useful for the imaging of neuroendocrine tissues and tumors.
