Septal Ablation

**Definition:** A cardiac catheterization procedure to relieve symptoms in patients with severe obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. A catheter is used to inject alcohol into a septal artery supplying the heart muscle responsible for the obstruction, destroying the muscle tissue and relieving the obstruction.
