**Definition:** An orally bioavailable indole ether quinazoline derivative and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) inhibitor, with potential antineoplastic activity. Upon oral administration, cediranib binds to and inhibits the three VEGFR subtypes 1 (VEGFR-1), 2 (VEGFR-2) and 3 (VEGFR-3), thereby blocking VEGF-signaling, angiogenesis, and tumor cell growth. Expression of VEGFRs may be upregulated in a variety of tumor cell types.
