**Definition:** A microscopy acid fast staining method that utilizes kinyoun carbol fuchsin, a dye containing basic fuchsin in solution with ethyl alcohol and aqueous phenol. This acid fast staining technique does not require heating during the primary staining step involving the carbol fuchsin.
