**Definition:** A taxonomic family of Gram positive, anaerobic bacterium, which are found in dairy products and in the intestines of animals, in the phylum Actinobacteria that includes the genera Brooklawnia, Microlunatus, Propionibacterium and Ponticoccus, among others.
