Chryseobacterium gleum

**Definition:** A species of aerobic, Gram negative, rod shaped bacteria in the phylum Bacteroidetes. This bacteria is non motile, catalase and oxidase positive, indole positive, hydrolyzes starch and reduces nitrates and nitrites. C. gleum is most commonly found in soil and is rarely pathogenic, causing nosocomial infection in humans.
