Clostridium cochlearium

**Definition:** A species of anaerobic, Gram positive, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Firmicutes. This species is sporulating, produces glutamate mutase, hydrolyzes gelatin, is indole positive, lecithinase and lipase negative and does not ferment inositol, glucose or maltose. C. cochlearium is pathogenic.
