Clostridium fallax

**Definition:** A species of anaerobic, Gram positive, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Firmicutes. This species is indole negative, produces a weak exotoxin and is positive for nitrite reaction. C. fallax is pathogenic when exposed to open wounds on the body and is the causative agent of black leg disease in sheep as well as gas oedema.
