Klebsiella pneumoniae

**Definition:** A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram negative, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is nonmotile, oxidase negative, and produces acid from glucose, mannitol, rhamnose, arabinose and amygdalin. K. ozaenae is pathogenic and a causative agent of ozena/atrophic rhinitis.
