Lactobacillus gallinarum

**Definition:** A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram positive, rod shaped bacteria in the phylum Firmicutes. This species is nonmotile, produces DL Lactic Acid from glucose fermentation, catalase negative, and does not produce acid from trehalose. L. gallinarum is a commensal organism of the gastrointestinal tract.
