Pantoea agglomerans

**Definition:** A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram-negative, rod shaped bacteria in the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is motile using peritrichous flagella, non-spore forming, indole and urease negative, noncapsulated, produces a yellow pigment, liquefies gelatin, reduces nitrate, hydrolyzes esculin, and is Voges-Proskauer reaction positive. P. agglomerans is found on plant surfaces, seeds, and water and is pathogenic in humans and some strains can be pathogenic to plants.
