Anaerococcus hydrogenalis

**Definition:** A species of anaerobic, Gram positive, cocci shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Firmicutes. This bacteria is indole and urease positive, coagulase and arginine dihydrolase negative and acid is produced from glucose, lactose, raffinose and mannose. A. hydrogenalis has been isolated from the vagina and ovarian abscesses.
