Intrauterine Growth Restriction

**Definition:** A fetus whose estimated weight is below the 10th percentile for its gestational age; however, many fetuses who meet this definition are simply small-for-gestational-age and are constitutionally small. The diagnosis of intrauterine growth restriction carries an increased risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality.
