**Definition:** A spironolactone derivative and a potent aldosterone antagonist on mineralocorticoid biosynthesis with diuretic activity. As an aldosterone antagonist, oxprenoate may inhibit sodium resorption in the collecting duct and may eventually lead to diuresis.
