**Definition:** A clinical finding about one or more characteristics of colorectal cancer, following the rules of the TNM AJCC v7 classification system. Clinical assessment is based on medical history, physical examination, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy with biopsy. Examinations designed to demonstrate the presence of extrarectal or extracolonic metastasis may include chest radiographic films, computed tomography (CT; abdomen, pelvis, chest), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography (PET) or fused PET/CT scans.
