**Definition:** Human BRD4 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 19p13.1 and is approximately 43 kb in length. This allele, which encodes bromodomain-containing protein 4, is involved in the regulation of chromosomal dynamics during mitosis. A chromosomal aberration t(15;19)(q13;p13.1) involving the gene and the human C15orf55 gene is associated with a lethal midline thoracic, head and neck carcinoma.
