Tumescent Mastectomy

**Definition:** A type of surgery to remove the breast. The breast is injected with lidocaine, to numb the area, and epinephrine, to narrow blood vessels and reduce bleeding. Tumescent mastectomy is usually used to treat breast cancer in elderly patients.
