Mononucleotide and Dinucleotide Marker Panel

**Semantic type:** Laboratory Procedure

**Definition:** A set of genetic loci where each locus contains either a mononucleotide (single base pair) repeat or a dinucleotide (two nucleotide subunits) repeat sequence. Changes in the length of the repeat indicate mutations in mismatch repair genes resulting in microsatellite instability. Dinucleotide repeats are less sensitive than mononucleotide repeats, but provide internal sample control.
