Cobicistat

**Definition:** A cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) inhibitor that can be used to enhance the pharmacokinetic profile of certain anti-HIV-1 agents. Upon administration, cobicistat inhibits the liver enzyme CYP3A4 and limits the breakdown of co-administered agents that are metabolized by CYP3A4, and increases the concentration, systemic exposure and efficacy of the co-administered agent.
