**Definition:** Human KDM5A wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 12p11 and is approximately 109 kb in length. This allele, which encodes lysine-specific demethylase 5A protein, is involved in both chromatin modification and transcriptional regulation. A chromosomal translocation t(11;12)(p15;p13) of this gene and the NUP98 gene is associated with one case of acute megakaryoblastic leukemia.
