**Definition:** Human LHX4 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 1q25.2 and is approximately 45 kb in length. This allele, which encodes LIM/homeobox protein Lhx4, is involved in the modulation of both pituitary development and transcription. Mutation of the gene is associated with combined pituitary hormone deficiency 4. A chromosomal translocation t(1;14)(q25;q32) of this gene and the IGHG1 gene is associated with pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
