Mining of Coal and Lignite

Code 05 of the PRODCOM EU Industrial Production Survey classification records the output of mines extracting hard coal and lignite (brown coal). It captures the quantity of coal and lignite produced, including any initial processing such as washing, but excludes downstream activities like electricity generation or coke making.
