Manufacture of Basic Metals

The code 24 in the PRODCOM EU Industrial Production Survey covers the primary processing of basic metals, including the smelting, refining and casting of iron, steel and non-ferrous metals such as copper, aluminium and zinc. It aggregates output from furnaces, rolling mills and related primary-metal operations, but excludes downstream fabrication of finished metal products.
