Output Floor

The Output Floor is a key component of the Basel III/IV framework that establishes a minimum level of risk-weighted assets derived from the standardized approach, limiting how much banks can lower capital requirements using internal models. It requires that at least 72.5 % of a bank's capital charge be based on this floor, a rule that began phasing in from 2023.
