Under the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (Regulation 2023/956), cement classified in Customs Nomenclature Chapter 25 is subject to a carbon price on imports. The measure aims to level the playing field for EU producers by accounting for the high CO₂ emissions associated with cement manufacturing and to support the bloc's climate-reduction objectives.
