Title I - Research and Related Programs

Title I of the Clean Water Act authorizes federal support for scientific research, monitoring, and development of new technologies aimed at preventing water pollution and improving water quality, including grants to universities, state agencies, and other institutions. It also funds related programs that provide technical assistance and information dissemination to enhance water resource management across the United States.
