Exceptions to Prior Consent (312.5(c))

Under the COPPA provision 312.5(c), operators may collect personal information from children without prior parental consent for limited purposes such as protecting the operator's security, responding to a child's emergency medical needs, and when a child initiates a communication that the operator is required to answer.
